personally, i fuckin love nicki, i love hip hop and i love pop culture. i have no problems with you disliking/criticizing the video/song, but i have a different opinion. i don’t see this as girlhate at all. i see it as ‘dissing’ which is common practice in hip hop, for both male and female rappers. a lot of rappers put down others and say they are the best. as the article linked points out “Hip-hop has always been about braggadocio, and certainly male artists release tracks about bitches and hoes without anyone blinking. But we only have one female rapper on the Billboard charts right now. With her candy-colored wigs and makeup, she has tons of young fans.” … i have a problem with this double standard. just because nicki is the only majorly mainstream female hip hop artist right now and just because she has ‘tons of young fans’ does not mean that she should be unable to express herself or that she should have to exempt herself from certain common practices in hip hop, like dissing. she’s a rapper, not a role model. i get so sick of the ‘she has young fans’ argument. people say it to rihanna, gaga, beyonce, gwen. people DON’T say it lil wayne, kanye west, drake or justin bieber… and guess what, they all have ‘tons of young fans’ who are influenced by their music too. this video got more hits in 24 hours than any other vevo video, yet it also has more ‘dislikes’ than i have ever seen on a popular new song. there are more dislikes than likes. seems like nicki is getting some girlhate, because male rappers with far more offensive songs don’t get hated on like that. i also find it weird that the line i probably find most ‘girlhate’ and offensive: “I’m Angelina, you Jennifer, come on, bitch, you see where Brad at?” was applauded by the article as clever. i don’t understand that. i also don’t know why the article brings up lil kim when the song says nothing about her (it seems like the article is trying to fuel drama and feuds between the two). and finally, to say that nicki is a girlhater is pretty inaccurate. she loves women and she talks about it all the time. listen to this song.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRsUoD1AZBA

well i believe she’s talking about lil kim as they’ve been beefing for a while. she called her a nappy headed ho and compared her to a monkey. i can’t defend that.

  2. badbitchesdoitwell said: Well, why did she have to title a song “stupid hoe”? Taken out of context, it reeks with internalized misogyny

  8. moon-stomp said: who the fuck does she think she is for ‘dissing’ Lil Kim? i don’t give a fuck if it’s apart of the rap game or whatever, YOU DO NOT DISS LIL FUCKIN KIM. she was raping before the rap game even started and nicky should be kissing her fucking feet.
  9. idolescent said: I think most of the dislike comes from the fact that it is a truly awful song with absolutely no backing music, atrocious lyrics and no tune.
